Tortoises are land dwelling reptiles similar to their relatives the sea turtles. They have a shell that they uses for protection from predators. They can be found in temperate and tropical regions of all oceans and all continents except Antarctica. There are many different types, shapes and sizes of tortoises. They have been known to live as long as 150 years. Tortoises forage on grasses, growing shrubs and even cactus.
